Many people have asked us about placing memorial plaques
under trees or attached to trees. We offer the
following advice.
We have received photos of memorial plaques
attached directly to a tree - that is, screwed directly
to the tree. Although we are not tree professionals,
it our feeling that mounting a plaque in this manner
may, in the long term, damage a tree. It seems
to be much better to use a garden stake (as shown on
the left) and mount the stake at the
base of the tree.
If the plaque you are mounting is larger than 12
by 12, a backpost like the one shown on the right is
needed. This can also be mounted under the tree.
